DETAIL: A wonderful original oil painting of pretty female nude in the studio. The work is titled on a label verso ‘Venus De Montparnasse” and was exhibited at the Association Des Beaux Artes Cannes in 1954 – exhibition label verso.Boreel was Walter Sickerts great friend and her mentor. Boreel’s original paintings (she was perhaps best known as an etcher) are rare to market but are well sought after with works selling through London Galleries such as Messums (£20,000 for a London scene) – an artist well documented on the internet, her works are held in the Government Art Collection, the V&A Museum as well as in the British Museum in London. She was Sickerts most talented pupil at the Slade.
