DETAIL: Charles Kvapil attended the Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp. In 1920, he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants. He used models in the studio and introduced bathers or nude girls to his groups of figures. He also painted landscapes and still-lifes. In his book dedicated to Kvapil, P. Béran praises the richness of his materials and the exuberant quality of his art. He lived in Montmartre in the Hameau Des Aryistes and in 1921 exhibited with fellow painter Othon Friesz. From 1923 he exhibited at the Galerie Bernstein then at the Dalpeyrat in Limoges. During his lifetime he exhibited in Paris, Brussels, New York, London, Geneva and Munich.
