Discover What Paintings We Buy & The 5 Easy Steps To Sell Art to us at Jubilee Galleries
Why Sell To Us
There are certainly a number of options available when considering how and where to sell fine art. This can range from consigning to an auction house through to selling yourself on marketplaces such as Ebay. Each option has its pro’s and con’s – for example auction houses can surprisingly take up to 50% sales commission whereas Ebay you’ll need to pack up the items carefully to ensure they don’t get damaged in transit…and of course it’s pot luck what they might sell for. Alternatively selling to us is quick & efficient and (most importantly) also a fair & equitable process because we buy for what we would pay for an item at auction. This saves you the auction houses commission charges and saves us the auction houses buyers charges- it’s undoubtedly the best way to sell in our opinion.
We make payment within 48 hours of receiving the item paid as a bank transfer – no waiting for weeks on end for payment!
We buy oil paintings – we don’t buy prints and rarely do we buy watercolours. Its 20th Century paintings – so paintings executed between 1900 and 2000.
As a rule of thumb we do not buy contemporary art less than 20 years old and generally the art we purchase is by artists who are either sadly deceased or in their ‘closing years of life’… that hopefully helps to clarify what we’re looking for.
Though we happily buy single items, we are always seeking artists studio collections. Perhaps one of your family members was an artist and you have a quantity of works which you’d like to relinquish following their passing. Do get in touch as we buy anything from a single painting to entire studio collections.
We also offer house clearance for art in Cirencester, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Swindon and North to the borders of Oxford. When it comes to art we have 20+ years of specialist knowledge of art from the 18th, 19th and 20th Century – so you can be assured of expertise when it comes to valuation – something general house clearance operators cannot offer. Talk to use first for art valuations.
Some of the artists we’re interested in buying can be found here, but if their name isn’t listed it certainly doesn’t mean we aren’t interested – just email us some photos of what you have using the step by step guide on this page.
